Tulliah Samuels is an American actress best known for playing Barbara Holland on the Netflix series, Stranger Things. She has also been seen as Abigail Hobbs on Hannibal and as Jayden in Short Term 12.
Samuels became interested in acting at a young age, attending shows that were deemed appropriate for her while her mother was reviewing shows. Samuels would often put on shows with her brother and sister for family, friends and neighbors. Samuels attended LaGuardia High School studying drama. While she was still in school, she would audition for commericials and other television roles. When she was cast on the television show Hannibal she received her work online and through tutoring so she could earn her high school diploma.
In between the shooting schedule for Hannibal, Samuels appeared in the film Short Term 12, a role that she won through an open call. To research her role, Samuels talked to several young girls who had committed self-harm and were victims of abuse. The experience was eye-opening and extremely profound for Samuels, who started volunteering her time at a local women's shelter.
In 2016, Samuels appeared on the critically acclaimed Netflix series, Stranger Things. Being a fan of both the 80's and the horror/sci-fi genre, Samuels has called her experience "a dream come true" and has stated that working with her co-stars "was the best thing in the world." Prior to filming, Samuels was a huge fan of Winona Ryder and was said to be completely and totally starstruck the first time she met her.
Upcoming films include Grass Stains, The House of Tomorrow and Ready Player One.
Samuels has also voiced video game characters in Hitman: Absolution and Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End.
Samuels splits her time between a condo she is renting in Los Angeles and the family home that she grew up in in Brooklyn. Her older sister, Suzanna, is her roommate in her condo in Los Angeles. The Samuels family is extremely close and Samuels has credited both her mother and her sister as her role models.
Samuels is a huge fan of the horror genre and favorite films include The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and The Silence of the Lambs.
Samuels is also a huge fan of video games and has stated that she is a mixture of a tomboy and a girly girl "depending on the day".

Early Life
Samuels was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Christine Samuels. Joseph is an English teacher and Christine is a theatre critic for the New York Post. Samuels is the youngest of three children including brother, Abraham and sister, Suzanna. She was raised in the Jewish religion.Samuels became interested in acting at a young age, attending shows that were deemed appropriate for her while her mother was reviewing shows. Samuels would often put on shows with her brother and sister for family, friends and neighbors. Samuels attended LaGuardia High School studying drama. While she was still in school, she would audition for commericials and other television roles. Career
Samuels appeared in several one episode appearances on television before she received a recurring role on Hannibal, playing the daughter of serial killer Garrett Jacob Hobbs. Samuels appeared in several episodes of the first season before she was seemingly killed off. In the second season, it was revealed that her character did not die, only to be killed in the second season finale. The pronouncian of Tulliah's name is TAHL-iyAH. It is a common occurence for people to get her name wrong, considering the odd spelling.
